The Phoenix Surgery Patient Participation Group

The Phoenix Surgery Patient Participation Group held its inaugural meeting in April 2011.

Its purpose is to represent the patients in appropriate matters, bring to the attention of the Surgery's Partners and staff areas where patients feel improvements can be made and to implement a number of these improvements where appropriate and agreed.

At present there are approximately 20 members of the Group.  The members have been chosen to be representative of the Surgery's demographics. We are very keen to recruit new members, particularly in the 16 - 45 age group.

The PPG is co-chaired by Ingela Jacob and Peter Jay.

Please click on the appropriate tab above if you would like to see the PPG's terms of reference, the results of a PPG survey carried out in 2016 or the minutes of the last PPG meeting.

You can also contact the PPG by selecting the Contact Us tab.

Phoenix PPG Handwashing event, 10th to 14th October 2016

The PPG wants to get involved in Health Promotion and Education for our surgery, and to start with we felt it would be good to tackle something that affects us all, whatever age or gender – good hand hygiene! Many GP appointments are taken up with short term conditions such as diarrhoea and vomiting and throat infections, and these conditions are often caught by not washing our hands effectively and often enough. If we can reduce the number of such infections, then that frees up more time for our doctors to deal with diagnosis and treatment of the more serious conditions.

We have been fortunate in borrowing a ‘lightbox’, which after rubbing a gel on your hands, shows up how clean/dirty our hands are, and where we may have missed! We shall be demonstrating this and you can have a go, and also view a display that we have put together, with interesting facts about bacteria and where they lurk!!

We shall be in the waiting room during clinic times at:

Chesterton on Monday 10th October in the morning, and then Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons; South Cerney on Monday afternoon, Tuesday and Wednesday morning; Kemble on Thursday morning, and then RAU on Friday morning.

Do pop in and see us!
